I was introduced to Up The Ante by way of his fleece. I had gone to get more experience in evaluating fleeces, working with Mary Lou Clingan up in Findlay. She pulled out Ante's cria fleece and I was smitten. When I asked who he was, she told me that he was boarded at her farm. A small sample of that fleece is also used to train judges at the Total Immersion Fleece Clinic along with a photo of his blanket.
After lunch we went out to take a look at this fella and I then decided he needed to be part of my herd. He was everything I had been searching for in the past several years. He has uniformity, tremendous density, excellent lock formation, and beautiful luster. As you can see in the photo above, this guy has rock solid conformation to make the package complete, and the fact that he is full Accoyo was a bonus.
Because Carmella Osborne, our co-owner, was unable to take time from work to show Ante, he has only been shown twice for the first time in 2010 as an adult, and took BLUE ribbons both times, first at the 2010 AOBA National (pictured above) and then at 2010 Alpacafest.
