AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS OF AOBA
Organizations:
The Alpaca Owner and Breeders Association
(AOBA): This is a great starting place for
information. There is a free mailing of information including a Breeder's
Guide in which some, but not all members, list their farms. Their site
also includes links to other alpaca related sites. Recently, the AOBA
Board of Directors decided to start their own show association independent of ALSA (see below). Most likely, for a period of time, alpaca shows will be
either AOBA sanctioned or ALSA sanctioned or perhaps both. The new show
association has been formed under AOBA, and they will begin the process of
training judges and making rules. There is an additional fee for becoming
a member of the show association.
The Alpaca Registry, Incorporated (ARI): The Registry is charged with maintaining pedigree information on all North American Alpacas in its database. The site is oriented more toward current members, who can access some of the database to inquire about availability of names, pedigrees of specific alpacas, and offspring of registered animals.
The Alpaca and Llama Show Association (ALSA): ALSA serves both the llama and alpaca communities by overseeing shows, setting judging rules, and training and certifying judges.
The Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America The coop serves shareholders of North America by accepting fiber and then processing it into various products. This web page offers some of these products for sale.
The Morris Animal Foundation The Foundation serves as a means for people to make donations to various research projects across the country. Many different species research projects are funded in part by the Morris Animal Foundation including alpacas and llamas.

Agriscape
Agriscape is a worldwide directory on agriculture and its surrounding industry.
Sites included in their database are categorized according to their content. For
each site they write a short description and also give the country where the
company or server is located. In case of companies, the short description
presents the company's purpose and the ways they propose to achieve this
purpose. They also often list the major products offered by the company and
possible links given in the website. Agriscape also lists research and academic
sites as well as an extensive list of conferences on any topic related to
agriculture.
E Mail Lists
there are two email lists to which we subscribe that offer an
amazing amount of information. You must subscribe to these with formal
application through the addresses below. The advantage to these sites is
the rather rapid response to all sorts of questions by breeders who are facing
or have faced similar situations. These two sites have been invaluable to
us in our "hour of need" and they are both highly
recommended.
Alpacasite is a free
list pertaining to all aspects of alpacas, from fiber to the politics of our
national alpaca organizations. It is managed by Rick Horn through Yahoo
Groups. You can visit Yahoo to set up an account and become a subscriber
to this list.
Guineas Email List this is a site dedicated to guineas, a type of foul that is used by many folks in an attempt to control insects and slugs and snails. On this site you can have your questions answered about raising these critters, or at least be directed to sources of info about them.
Printed Material most of what is listed here is available from companies such as Barnes
and Noble or from the various mail order companies that sell alpaca and llama
