Theneva Cria Ears weird.JPG (141964 bytes)This first picture is of Theneva, "fresh out of the  oven", just after her first stepsShe was born in  September of  2000.  Quarters were so cramped in her Momma's womb, that her ears were plastered back on her head, making them convex instead of concave.  She looked like a gremlin.  We put a single piece of tape on each ear for one week to bring them around, and now they look completely normal.  We should have kept the name Gremlin, for that is exactly how she acts, always stirring things up in the pastures and barn, jumping around and acting silly.

Queen Mazy Cria.jpg (38956 bytes)Here is Mazota, we call her Mazy, but as you can see, she thinks we should call her "Your Highness".  Mazy is the first huacaya to be born on our farm.  Mazy arrived about 3 weeks ahead of schedule, but did not seem at all premature.  She is another example of alpaca knows best.  It has been asserted that pregnancies can go into temporary holding patterns or accelerations, which would explain the wide variations in gestations.

This isn't a baby picture, but we think it is kind of interesting.  Tim was transplanting lettuce whenFamous Footwear Shoe Balloon 2.JPG (79663 bytes) someone yelled if it was okay to land in our field.  It made him jump, for he didn't even know they were there.  He then called me on the cell phone and told me to take the kids out onto the front porch and see what I could find.  Lo and behold, there was this shoe landing on our compost piles.  Pretty neat huh?  It has already started to lose some of its hot air in this photo.

Kennaburga Cria.jpg (99032 bytes)Next we have Bergie, named after my Mom.  Bergie is  actually named Kennaburga after a Celtic Saint.  She is a light fawn suri and this photo does not do her justice in regards to color.  She was born in November of 1999 and took third place at the 2000 National AOBA conference.  She has a very sweet disposition and great density and lock structure, that she has passed on to her cria.

Paddy as Cria.jpg (47418 bytes)Padraic or Paddy named after St. Patrick should probably have been name Nicholas since he was born a few days  after Christmas in 1999.   He is a dark fawn suri with lots of promise.  His color is beautiful and his fleece is very dense.
